For publications submitted to Curricular Studies and Perspectives (CSP), this policy regulates the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies during the research, authoring, review, and editorial stages. It seeks to uphold academic honesty, ensure transparency, and encourage ethical conduct in scholarly writing and communication.
CSP allows, to a moderate extent, the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools, provided they comply with high standards of copyright protection, confidentiality, and data security.
The journal adheres to internationally recognized ethical standards, including those established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). In line with these guidelines, CSP requires transparency in the use of GenAI tools in both research and manuscript preparation.
GenAI may assist in limited aspects of the publishing process (e.g., language editing, visualization, formatting) but must never replace human intellectual contributions or generate fabricated or falsified content.
GenAI tools cannot be credited as authors, as they do not meet the established criteria for authorship: making a substantial intellectual contribution, drafting or critically revising the work, and taking accountability for the published content. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and ethical compliance of their submissions, even when AI tools are employed. All work must meet standards of academic integrity, proper attribution, scientific quality, and originality.
All authors are required to provide a disclosure statement if GenAI tools were used in the preparation of their manuscript. The disclosure should include:
Such statements must be included in the Methodology or Acknowledgments section of the article. When citing AI-generated texts, authors should adhere to APA 7th edition citation guidelines.
Peer review at CSP must remain a human-led process. While AI technologies may assist reviewers with technical or linguistic tasks, they cannot substitute for human expertise, judgment, or critical evaluation.
This policy reflects evolving best practices and will be regularly updated to align with developments in artificial intelligence and scholarly publishing.
