Publication Policy

Article Review and Publication Process

The evaluation of manuscripts submitted to Curricular Studies & Perspectives (CSP) proceeds through the following stages:

  1. Initial Editorial Screening
Each submission is first reviewed by the Editor to ensure its purpose, topic, content, and style align with the journal’s aims and requirements. Manuscripts deemed suitable are forwarded to the Section Editor, while those requiring major adjustments are returned to the authors for revision prior to resubmission.
  2. Section Editor Assessment
The Section Editor determines whether the manuscript should proceed to peer review or be returned to the authors for necessary corrections.
  3. Reviewer Selection and Evaluation
Reviewers are selected based on their expertise and experience in the relevant field. Each reviewer is given 20 days to complete their evaluation. If a reviewer cannot meet the deadline, they may request an extension or decline the invitation.
  4. Delayed Reviews
If a review is not submitted within the allotted period, a reminder is sent, granting an additional 10 days. Failure to respond within this extended timeframe may result in the review being withdrawn and reassigned to another referee.
  5. Conflicting Reviewer Reports
In cases where one referee recommends acceptance and another rejection, the Section Editor carefully evaluates both reports, comparing their arguments and evidence, and makes a decision based on the strength of the reasoning provided. If necessary, a third reviewer may be appointed to ensure a balanced decision.
  6. Decision Timeline and Notification
A final editorial decision is generally reached within 90–120 days from submission. Authors are promptly notified of the outcome.
  7. Publication
Upon acceptance, the article is scheduled for publication in the appropriate issue of CSP.

Transparency

Transparency is a fundamental principle in the correspondence between authors, Editors, and Section Editors at CSP. However, the principle of preserving the anonymity of authors must be upheld in the correspondence between Editors or Section Editors and reviewers. Additionally, the identities of reviewers should not be disclosed in the reports sent to the authors.

If a reviewer believes that the assigned manuscript contains issues related to research ethics or the data used in the study, or if there is a conflict of interest between themselves and the author(s), they must communicate these concerns with the Editor before starting the review process.

To ensure an integrated and consistent peer review process and contribute to the academic development of the author, the Editor may request that reviewers read each other’s reports and provide comments on them. In such cases, the names and identities of the reviewers will remain strictly confidential.

Author Rights at CSP

Exclusion of Specific Reviewers from the Review Process

Authors have the right to request that the Editor does not assign their papers to specific reviewers due to conflicts of interest or other ethical concerns.

Additionally, the Editor does not assign manuscripts to reviewers if:

● They have previously co-authored publications with the author(s).
● They have assisted in reviewing drafts of the paper.
● They have had prior conflicts with the author(s).
● They may benefit financially from the publication of the article.
● They are affiliated with the same institution (or department) as the author(s).

Withdrawing an Article

Authors have the right to withdraw their manuscript before publication. To do so, they must complete and sign the Article Withdrawal Form and submit it to CSP for approval. Only articles that have received official approval from the Editorial Board can subsequently be submitted to other journals.

Appealing against Review Reports or Editorial Decisions

Authors have the right to appeal against review reports or editorial decisions. Appeals must be accompanied by a clear justification and any necessary supporting evidence. If deemed appropriate by the Editor, a new review round may be initiated.

Author Rights Regarding Published Articles

Authors may inform the Editor if their works published in CSP are to be used for other purposes. The Editorial Board will provide feedback and guidance regarding such requests.

Typographical Errors

Authors have the right to request corrections of typographical mistakes or other errors arising from their own submission within five (5) days after publication.
